(Reuters) - Quechua Indians pummel each other in the ancient and bloody ritual fight known as "tinku" (encounter) in the village of San Pedro de Macha some 430 km (266 mi) south of La Paz in the Bolivian Andes, May 4, 2010. The tinku, in which men, women and even children from rival communities gather to fight, often to their death, in what is described by historians as ritual combats that define the hegemony of one community over another in the Bolivian highlands, is slowly becoming transformed into a dance that is one of the main attractions in the country's colorful folk festivals.Picture taken in May 3.
